Re: brazilian cherry
Mack,
Did you also pick up the 4x4 walnut as 'scrap' from the cabinet shop?
It sounds like I may need to visit some cabinet shops in my area.

it sounds exactly like the wood 'Acana' a wood from the Caribbean I have used it , forget the knife ,like you said,it is as hard as a rock and as heavy ,it is hard to get details too ,powertools do the job alright if you use carbide burrs, the color is gorgious if left natural . I hope this helps

brazilian cherry
I picked up some wood scraps at a cabinet shop. The workers said it was brazilian cherry. It has the grain like black cherry but with the open pores like mahogony. its hard as rock. has amyone carved this stuff? it doesn't chip out or splinter. i'm think of just making a mallet out of it instead of carving it. and using some for bases.

Reply to Phone call from son.by Jim McDonaldMy kids always call me since I am the one who probably did the stuff they are calling about.
I know it's scary to get that call, but I'm glad to hear the charge exited where it did before it went any further.
Probably hurts like hell and he has a copper taste in his mouth...-
