            I buy the smallest screw eyes from Lee Valley as they are real cheap but have picked them up at Hobby Lobby too. I create starter hole with a push pin that you use on a cork board and never had a problem.

            Maple looks good. There are some small screw eyes that work good on ebay. Low priced also.
