When I saw this pattern, I was worried about the bottom right hand piece. Is it as narrow as it appears?

Well, yes it is, now that you mention it. That actually started to break, but i caught it in time, hit it with a touch of wood glue and the repair was completely invisible. The glue actually reinforced the piece so it's not it's not so fragile.

Very timely. How thick is the wood?

I like that one alot. It should be make out of "heartwood" or redwood for the heart and maple for the border.

Bob, the wood is 1/4" Baltic birch.

Cool. I just bought 1/4" Birch plywood from Lowe's tonight and plan to make this design for my first project. All of their wood is slightly warped, but from the old threads I read, the warp often goes away once you cut the wood (stress is removed - wood can move).

This is the first compound thing I have ever cut on a scrollsaw. I see a lot of pieces like this that are just laser cut, but what is the fun of that! =) I also purchased the mechanical horse and butterfly patterns. In hindsight, I should have stack cut this because 1/4 inch plywood isn't the easiest...

I had a chance to meet Janette at a craft show on the Oregon coast. Bought one of her books and the attached piece of intarsia that is hanging in our kitchen....

The Jet looks like a clone of the Tormak system. The Pasch is also a good air brush brand. Nice deals!
