  • "Snuffing The Colors of Spring" Puzzle

This is just a fun jigsaw puzzle I recently made for my kids for Easter. It was cut from 1/4" cherry ply, is about 9" x 12", and has approximately 300 pieces. It contains 19 Figurals, and 7 Picture Elements. The picture is from a children's book which I purchased.

The bunny in the artwork has just come out of his home and is happily smelling the fresh scents of springtime. To keep him company, a bunch of butterfly Figurals have fluttered into the puzzle to enjoy the new blooms. Even a small dragonfly is enjoying the morning air.

Meanwhile, a hummingbird takes an opportunity to sample some fresh, sweet nectar. On the tree nearby, a heart has been carved into the trunk, perhaps carrying a secret message.

I cut a special treat, where the petals of this flower are segmented, and actually form a smaller push-fit puzzle within the larger puzzle. I color line cut the appraoching bee's wings to make a neat little natural lock.

The bright objects in the pictures allowed for some great Picture Elements to pop out.

Finally, with the Easter season upon us, I could not resist slipping a secret little surpise into the puzzle. As the kids put the puzzle together, they will discover eight little Easter eggs hiding in the grass.

Hi Shawn - what a great surprise! I've not been on the board much of late and this is my first visit to the puzzle section since Christmas and I couldn't have happened on a better thread to begin with. The master puzzle maker and story teller at his very best!

If more parents could weave magic for their kids like you do the world would be a much more pleasant and saner place.

        Excellent pal!

                        Hi Shawn,

Now I can't wait for the next puzzle, of course I always say that and you always top yourself.
In spite of the fact that most descriptions have been used, GREAT JOB!

I do hope to have the opportunity to meet you & Carter at the next Puzzle gathering. Does anyone have any information on this subject???

Rick, the next gathering of puzzle folks (called a Puzzle Parlay) for both cutters and collectors/enthusiasts, will most likely be in late summer, 2012 in the New England area. C'mon along.....

                            Carter,

                            Thanks for the information.

New England is our favorite part of the country, so if The Lord allows, we will absolutely be there. It sounds like a long time to wait but I'm sure it will be worth it.

It is still in excellent condition and is made from close to 40 pieces of wood. The plans I got from "Cherry Tree" https:...

Yesterday was amazing to see someone ring the bell after beating cancer. When we left we walked to our cars and had our arms around each others shoulders. I told her this was the best party I have ever been to. I found this message on my phone this morning “I am such a blessed woman. I was so excited....
