  • IPad credit card App

So i brought the fam for ice cream tonight, and paid for it with a credit card. I was impressed to see that the girl running my card did so with an iPad. Evidently there is an App for this, and a small device, which allows the card to slide through it, clips onto the top of the iPad.

I thought this was pretty cool, and thought i would share it with the forum members here who like to sell at craft shows. If you have an iPad, this would make a handy way to process payments (you would need a 3G).

Intuit also has a devise called "GO" and it is free but they only charge 2.7% per charge. That's the only cost. Works great!!!! About 40% of my sales last show was credit card.

Nope......Reese's Pieces (and if I'm lucky, a little hot fudge and peanut butter sauce).

Bob, since this is Western New York, you'd think chicken wing ice cream would be big around here......the cardiologists sure would love it!

Paypal also has one of the card scanners available for both iphone and android, no charge for the device, 2.75 per swipe and the payment goes directly to your paypal account. If you are like me and have one of their debit cards you have instant access to payments made by credit card, and it works anywhere your phone does.

There is also a small device that looks like a cell phone or pager and it is called a "skimmer" reads your credit card info. and stores it for uploading later to a scam artist.

So sorry to hear that Hammer. You can buy credit card size wallets that are metal and can't be scanned through. They are advertised on TV but I've seen them in kitchen stores (go figure) at the Delaware outlets.

As for square, I am just starting to use that but I haven't cancelled my merchant credit card account yet Why, you may ask. It does take more time for the square sale. You have to give to the person to sign, if they choose to, and to put in their phone number or email address if they want a receipt. Or you can take a pic of them where it says description in case there is a challenge on their purchase. Also, if you don't have a satellite, you don't have square!!! This has been an issue with other vendors at shows who couldn't get a satellite. Hubby likes the receipt in the hand machine, but the jury is still out.

I have the paper receipt in hand machine and it works well for me. I do not need a cell phone contract to use this and I have a signed paper receipt in hand. The initial cost of a regular credit card machine like this is less than the cost of a smart phone. Less than 2% fee and about $26 per month charge. (Less than a smart phone.) I got this set up at my local bank.

Second, I can tell you that on the Facebook laser forums those people have been hunting for sources on cutting and charcuterie boards to laser engrave various personalizations onto. Some are willing to pay for quality and the finished pieces show it. Others...

A custom order for the "Wedding Rings" designer unknown. I used 1/2" solid Cherry and cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #1 and #3 MGT blades. After sanding with a Mac Mop sprayed with 2 coats MinWax Lacquer Clear Gloss sanding between coats. Comments welcome.

If you are talking about their microlux, that is the same as the little proxxon saw, and it is the absolute worse scrollsaw I've ever used. They also have a 16" (the saw rebranded a thousand times) which is also a distant second in the running for worst designed saws ever.
