3rd and final craft show day

I am tired!! Ended up with a slower sales day today, but did have a buyer for one of my mini clocks. YAY We sold a few things, no large $ stuff, but at least we made some sales.

SIL and I split whatever $ remains after booth and license fees. It wasn't a lot, but we each ended up with $110, and that will buy more wood to make more stuff to add to the inventory to sell to make $ to buy more wood to make more stuff to add to the inventory to sell...................you get the idea.

Not only do I have the puzzle job for the Oatman, AZ vendor, I have goat and pig magnets to create for a local ranch, and breed-specific rabbit mini clocks for trophies at rabbit shows! I think I'm happy about that.......am I? LOL yeah, these will be fun and easy to cut and the extra few $ in my pocket will be nice, too. Just as long as I don't get as popular as Jan and her intarsia. I am retired, ya know.

SIL is taking her portraits and other items back to Utah and will try to get a vendor spot in a large craft fair in the fall, since she and her hubby will not be able to return to AZ this year, due to a relative's serious illness.

After we packed up and loaded the stuff in the SUV, we ventured into the casino for a 30 minute session. I wanted to get home before dark...rural roads have no street lights and it is DARK, so a short play time was all we could do today. I came home $70 ahead and my SIL was $10 to the good. Works for us!!

That's my story. Had fun, made a few $, met nice people; can't complain at all.

Well done Nancy. I can imagine how you feel and it must have been real nice to get back home and just unwind and re-charge your batteries. At least you made some money and will be able to buy more wood to make more lovely things.It is strange when you make an item and you are convinced it will be a best seller and you don't sell one but at the next craft fair it will be your best seller, you just don't know what will sell on the day.

I had my first craft fair on Saturday and did not do well, there were other events going on and the town was like a ghost town, I almost expected to see Clint Eastwood walking down the middle of the road. My next fair is April 14th and then I have one every Saturday right up until Christmas. Better luck next time Nancy and I hope you do well.

Yep, a slow show one time doesn't mean the next one will be the same. Just depends on what the customers are looking for at that time. I do know for sure that if my inventory of magnets had been greater, they would have sold. oh well, I have time to make more.

Hey Nancy - coming home from a show in the blue ain't so blue but I'm not sure that I would want to risk possibly going into the red in a casino. I imagine though that you had a little fun which can't be bad and definitely a better finish to what started out as being a painful week. Well done on both counts!

Oatman. I visited there years ago and found it a unique place to see. I'm curious what type of puzzle have you created for it. Nice that you picked up a few more commissions.

Hi Roger,

Oatman is a definite tourist attraction, and the wild burros that wander the streets are a big hit.

I didn't design the puzzle, the vendor bought it at a garage sale a few months ago and brought it to me during the craft show to see if I could cut some. She also wants a larger version to give to her autistic nephew.

It's a standup puzzle, with a large cactus, a snake, a cowboy boot, hills and a sun. I'll post pics when I get one cut. I have the patterns made, in 3 sizes, just have to get out to the wood stash and see if I can find what I need.

Thanks for posting. A little $ ahead is a good thing. Knowing how fickle customers can be, I don't get stressed if my wonderful, clever, cute things sit on the table and don't sell. LOL

We who know you were betting you had headed for the slots to try to double your money.
Good to hear you came home with more $$$$ than you took with you. Always a good thing. Watch out for those commissions. They are DANGEROUS. Trust me when I say this.
