Here's the link just in case: https://squareup.com/
I'm not affiliated with them in anyway, but I have to say...I luv, luv, luv this! My last show I did almost 80% of my sales using this...not sure how many of them I would of made with 'cash only'. It does take about a week or so to get signed up, verified and to get your lit'l gizmo...but worth it! We did do a couple test runs ($1 or so transactions) before the show, which I recommend. It doesn't come with an instruction book (need website for help), so it helps trying it out just to make sure it is running and such. Initially we had a hard time getting it to read the credit/debit card but just not used to swiping cards I guess - lol! Later on we also discovered that it will automatically calculate your tax and such if you need it...but you need to manually turn the function off (if you selected it) if you are doing different types of transactions (i.e. with sales tax, variable sales tax, etc.) during the same show.
Good Luck!~ Kim

I use square up also. Works terrific. I would recommend it in a heart beat. The last show I did 1/3 of my sales using it. Listening to other vendors with customers that did noty have a way to accept credit cards lost sales. So being the nice person I am I showed them the app and recommended they check into it as it cost nothing if you do not make any sales but it will get you that otherwise lost sale.

What about if you sign up and then don't have any sales/shows until a few months later? I don't accept cc on my website as it is setup for paypal already. I don't have another show now until spring. I would not sign up until just before it but I'm thinking about next winter when I'm dormant for local sales from mid Dec until April. I may go to their site and contact them and ask."Still Montana Mike"

Here is their legal notice that I copied (https://squareup.com/legal/ua):
"...
32. Dormant Square Accounts.
If there is no activity in your Square Account (including access or payment transactions) for at least two (2) years, consecutively, and you have a Balance, we will notify you by sending an email to your registered email address and give you the option of keeping your Square Account open and maintaining the Balance, withdrawing the Balance, or requesting a check. If you do not respond to our notice within thirty (30) days, we will automatically close your Square Account and escheat your funds in accordance with applicable law, and if permitted, to the Square Service."...
Hope that answers it!~ Kim

That answers it perfectly. I'll save up for the phone and subscribe in the spring."Still Montana Mike"

I have both Square and Intuit Go Payment as they both have almost identical account terms. Taking cards has significantly increased my sales and an additional benefit is multiple item sales, "oh I'll go ahead and get one of these also". I've shared with many vendors and a couple of store owners I know about both systems.
Which leads to my only complaint (albeit a small one) you have to combine all items as one sale and add it all up to enter the price (take your time and add carefully) and enter the items into the description so they know what they bought and don't challenge it later. Yes you can take pictures but a number of people decide after several items are wrapped before deciding to pay with their card.
Intuit has the ability to input items ahead of time (without pictures) and gives you the ability to add a quantity of items which helps to speed up the transaction for you and your customer. Square has this ability but for now it's only available if you are using an Ipad. A vendor I was next to a month or two ago was doing just that and it was quick and fast. I've been in contact with Square and they are working towards adding this to the phone versions but they don't know when.Don

I have a credit card machine (separate from my phone) that prints out a receipt for me and one for the buyer. This way I have their signature. Just like you in must retail credit card purchases. Now about 1/2 of my sales are credit sales.Hegner Polymax- 3,Hegner Multimax-3,

Reply to I decided I needed a challengeby handibunnyI couldn't resist (too long since any new toys) and ordered a blacklight flashlight from Amazon--same price as Harbor Freight. Should be here Tuesday--can't wait to see all the glue spots I've missed.

Reply to Wood identification neededby dgmanThe first picture is Wenge, pronounced WHEN-ghay or WHEN-Gii. It is a very hard wood. It’s splintery and very hard to cut. When finished, it is almost black. I use it when I need a black wood for Intarsia. I do not know anything about the other wood.

by vgrafI have a new neighbor who did a lot of woodworking in the past but had to give it up because of allergies. He sold his shop equipment and wood stockpile when he moved here, however he kept a few pieces of fancy wood and showed them to me. The first one (First Photo) he had no idea what it was. It is...
