  • Meet Layla the golden doodle

Just finished Layla, a commissioned piece for a client in Indiana. The completed intarsia is about 18" tall x 9-3/4" wide. Natural Aspen, Basswood, Ash, Maple, Light Walnut, Black Walnut, Mahogany, and Kok (the pink tongue). Eyes, nose, and lip I did the ebonizing magic on some of the black walnut. I lost count of the pieces when I hit 260, but I'm pretty sure it was under 290. They said the photo was too light, and her fur was actually more golden colored. So, the coloring should be about right. My next project is an owl...from fur to feathers!
