  • Finished Basett Hound

basett1.jpgI finally finished JGR's Basett Hound. It was a little more difficult than I thought it would be.
It is made from Aspen, Peruvian Walnut, Regular Walnut, and Western Red Cedar.

don't you just love Peruvian Walnut?!! It's so nice and dark and easy to cut.

                  thumbs up

You did a wonderful job Tim. The wood grain to the pillow was especially eye catching to me.

Looks great. Love the wood choice for his bed. I'd prefer you took your photo over something darker though..the white of his head blends into the white background too much...maybe just lay him down on a carpet or towel and snap a shot for us?

Thanks for all the nice comments and sugestions.

Yes Janette Peruvian Walnut is really nice to work with because it cuts and sands so easily and it really pops when the stain is applied.

Jeff, Thanks for the suggestion of a black background behind the project. I will set that up and take another picture.

                          Jeff,

Here is a picture of the Basett Hound with a black background. You are right. It does bring out the white.

Nice choice in wood, the dark background really makes the work pop.
I can almost hear him bark.

Great looking project. Good job on the wood selection. That cushion does look soft and silky like. And the expression - just so life like.
