  • Praying Hands

This is JGR pattern called praying hands. I posted a thread about my brother passing away this year. My Mom is going to have a very hard time with Christmas, since this will be our 1st without him. I thought I better make something special for her to help her through. She is a devout Catholic and I figured this would be the one for her. I have named this piece Faith.
The hands are basswood. The rest is cherry, walnut and holly for the sleeve's.

That is beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes.....
I know how your mom feels. I know because I've been thru it, too.

What a beautiful piece and tribute! My heart goes out to you and your family...those first holidays after a loss are always so difficult. Remembering to celebrate their memories and life, instead of mourning their loss, has always helped me thru the difficult times, especially around the holidays...may it help you and your family heal too.

Thanks for all the kind words. Catlyn, I am very sorry you had to endure the same pain. It's like a kick in the groin that won't go away. Kim, that was going to be exact words to our family right after I walk in the door at Moms house. Lets remember his laughter and wild sense of humor. Maybe spend some time sharing some of our favorite moments, vacations or concerts that we will cherish forever. That should get some laughter going. For anyone who knew my brother, you would remember him laughing a lot.

Great job, we lost my brother in law at Christmas a few years ago and a piece like that would have meant a lot to my mother in law.
