Here are Judy's beginner freebees. Do the whale first & follow the instructions. You'll find it is so easy, that you'll tackle Santa Bear and have him done in no time

Go for it! Just start and never look back! Bruce's tutorial at intarsia.net is a great place to start. I go back and read it from time to time. although I have never done one of the bears I followed the techniques and it has served me well.
My first was "Sailing Home" by Bruce Worthington it was probably not the best choice for a first project but I learned a lot, and it turned out really well.
Good luck be sure to post pics.
Now go make some saw dust!

Check the stickies in the intarsia segmentation inlay section here. There are some intarsia challenges there that are well done and are excellent introductions to it. Mostly, it's just diving in, using the simpler patterns and instructions in the magazines and look up some of the instructions books by Judy Gale Roberts and Kathy Wise. Both have good websites. Bruce Worthington also has some free instruction books available at intarsia.net.

    Have fun
