  • "Flower" the skunk from Bambi

I just finished up Flower this morning. This is a project I made for a friend for her grand daughter's Christmas gift.

I found a simple coloring book that had some Bambi characters in it. I found a good one to use for Flower. I made him from Walnut, Pine, a little Oak and African Paduke.

    He turned out great!

Sweeeeeet, if not the smell. Nice to see the little creature, that was one fantastic movie.
Great idea with the coloring book, and I think this is not your first intarsia.

Thanks to everyone for your nice comments.

Coloring books make great intarsia patterns. You shouldn't make them to sell at craft shows in bulk. This would infringe on copywrites. Im sure Disney would frown upon it, But if you making one project for one person and your not making them in bulk, your probably ok.

Ya, This isn't my first intarsia. Ive been doing Intarsia since I first started scrollsawing. I got bored of the repeated inside cuts of fretwork, and jumped in with both feet into the Intarsia world. Im hooked. I want someday to be just as famous as Judy Gail Roberts. I just have to put enough original artwork under my belt to make it all into a book. Its a slow operation.

                            Thanks Again.

Beautiful piece, Randy. Great job making a pattern from the colouring book skunk. Well cut and shaped with lots of great detail around the eye.

Good to see you. Been awhile, stranger!

Talked to him yesterday after he was coherent. Very fortunately, it was dc current. He said ac current and would have ended differently. And it wasn’t a house. It was a converter box in a marina located on a deck cut into a 20’ high steep bank. They had to climb a ladder to get to it. And they were...

Wow!!!! That is beautiful. Super job of sawing. If I worked it out correctly it took you less than a minute for each opening especially when I look at the amount of time it would take to saw the outline of the bear. Garry

Thanks guys, I have a lot of HDU left over from my sign business in various thicknesses.
HDU doesn't "fuse" or repair itself under heat or friction. Only acrylics and some PVC materials do that. Depending on what part of the world you are in, you would have to google HDU Distributors...
