  • Angle of cut?

Is there a "rule-of-thumb" on the angle of cut for different thicknesses of wood? It says in the challange that 2-3 degrees was chosen but, said may differ for different thickness of wood. Should both (or all) peices be smae thickness?

    An old beginner leaping in.

    Pleased with my new EX-16.

I'm no expert but you will have to try several different angles to get the inlay to lay down smoothly. The thickness of the wood will dictate the bevel/angle.

To be clear...Only the Top piece of the stack matters. Once you have the angle for that, you can inlay thicker or thinner pieces. And sand the back accordingly....

      Hey I said I was no expert....LOL
      You're funny Mike...

Most of the cut outs were done with the scroll saw.
Karl I have a couple of power carvers. The classic Dremel with a flex shaft I then bought a Ram Power carver, they both use 1/8 shank bits. I have a bunch of carbide cutters from when our Printed circuit board facility at work was dismantled....

I totally missed this, but what a great tool and I'm very excited for you. I was thinking it would great for puzzle boxes where the scroll saw boxes are limited to about 2 inches, this would take them on up to another level.

The blade cost would be a concern if they dulled quickly, so...
