  • JGR Blue Heron - Learn some valuable lessons

Finished this after getting back from Judy's 1st Intermediate class and learned two valuable lessons.

I got some Blue Pine from an internet dealer. As the shaping continued, all the blue went away and now he is a Grey Heron.

Lesson 1 -- If you're serious about the color of the wood, don't go by internet pictures.

Lesson 2 -- What you see on the surface of the board isn't what you see after sanding most of the board away.

So my blue heron went to the dark side - but that's OK - there we have cookies

Blue Herons always look gray to me! Great Job! Turned out very nice. Superb cutting... did you learn that from Judy's class?

The finish you use will also impact the color.
You did a fine job with it.

I love it. You gave me a great idea of what to do with that grey maple that I have sitting around waiting for the perfect project. Don't tell anyone that it was supposed to be blue and they will never know.

                          Glad things worked out.

I just updated my older PC. The hard drive was 500 gb and eight years old. I cloned it to a one TB SSD (solid state drive). Put the cloned drive in and worked perfectly with all my old programs. The computer is now much faster. The new drive was about $100 and...

Once upon a time ( in the 70's) i attempted bow hunting. I believe the bow had a 45 pound draw. I quickly learned that it was not for me. It takes lot of hard work and practice just to be fair at it. Good is a whole different level. I hope you do better than I did.
