  • Last Carousel animal

This is the last of the 3 carousel animals I'm entering in ArtPrize. The 3 are now in Grand Rapids waiting for the event to start!

You probably can't tell, but there are small jewels in the silver spots on the harness. Tie Dye coloring was used to add the blue colors.

            Thanks everyone!
Wouldn't it be fun to win first place - and the $250,000 prize! There are cash prizes for the top 10, along w/some other awards. I'm anxious to see some of the other art pieces that are displayed.
A lady in my home town made the Last Supper out of drier lint and entered it in Art Prize last year, and sold it to Ripley's Believe it or Not. She has a different piece in this year.

Seems like there is a lot of talent there in Michigan. You have to compete with Kathy Wise too. But your work is definetly worthy T. Don't be too shocked when they are handing you a prize.

The edge of the "blizzard of the year" hit us - we got about 8 inches of snow. Enough to close school for the kids along with some local businesses. Me - I get to head to the basement and do some sanding. I'm working on a lion carousel animal - will get some pictures of what I've done today.

                Don't cast stones.....rofl...Runnin really fast.

First off how thick is the board you cut?
When I want something to stand out I use backer-boards 1/8 thick to get the depth.
that means you would have to cut the big cutting into pieces to put the spacer behind.
for instance the cloud bottom right which his hand is on I would put maybe...

I am stunned at the fact it wasn't rotted or termite destroyed. That must've been one blessed lady. Thank you for what you all are doing!

Looking at the image, I would sand down the clouds a bit on the left (as you're looking at it)....to make it look like the clouds on the right are the closest to you. Then with the clouds to the left being less pronounced it will make it look more like he is sitting on them. Humorous design choice...

I would have to agree that I've not personally made many designs from the magazine, as I have progressed to making most of my own designs. However, I do enjoy some of the reviews and other articles---as well as checking out techniques of others. I debated as well, but decided to renew. Now I just...
