On our way up to the cat show in Portland this weekend, I wanted to stop in Wilsonville, just outside Portland. In their library is what they believe to be the world's largest intarsia. It depicts the town circa 1910, made by inmates at the Correctional Institution as part of a vocational program. It has 5000 pieces and 57 different types of wood. It is 17 feet long and 8 feet high, weighing over 800 lbs. It was quite interesting to look at their album that shows how they made it in.
Definitely worth seeing if you're ever passing through the area.
