    You may try opening a large fruit juice can down the side, then open it up like a book, placing it as a roof. You could then coat the can with the copper that you have.
    If you are making a series of birdhouses, you may also want to try something like this on a simple box. I know dimensions are critical when building bird houses but it will suit many of the smaller species.

    Copper roof for my scrolled bird house.

    I tried using copper from a roll of roofing copper that I have. It's too thin and is all wrinkled (see attached photo).

    Now my wife likes it this way, but I don't think it's sellable, which by the way is my motivation to do anything with my hands.

    Any ideas on the thickness of copper needed for this type of project?
