  • Drill Stand

Good morning ladies and gentlemen - I mainly do fretwork, but also make toy cars, trucks for sale or donation.. I need to know where I can find one of those stands that lets me use my hand drill like a drill press.

I get my wheels centered a majority of the time, but I do not like to waste wood and I'd like to drill perpendicular holes all of the time. I made a jig that attaches to my 5" sander so I get perfect circles all of the time so all problems covered except that drill stand - I have seen them in scroll saw books but with no info on where to find 'em.

I have seen used ones on Ebay, but for the prices you can almost buy a bench sized drill press at Harbor Freight.

Can't beat harbor frieght for the prices.
      Quality isn't bad either.

I have a table mounted one i bought at Sears many years ago ...its my go to when i need a quickie hole drilled rather than plow my way to my big one buried in the rear of the is surprisingly accurate and stabil.the drill can be rotated to use with a wire/grinding wheel although i have NEVER used that feature..seems to hold alighnment very well....saw one on the shelf at our local sears hardware store last year on clearance......(so there are still a few floating arround.) price was in the mid 20's if i remember.....i know i never paid that much.......(25-30 years back.)...the one i have is just like a standard drill press .......except you clamp your hand drill in place. a very stabil and useful unit'

you can buy a drill stand that will use dremel drill

                • #9
Ray, I have 5 dremel tools (aquired over the years) the drill press that they designed will fit all but 1 due to the nose configuration....anyhow.........the unit is not the most stabil but DOES get the job done.....the only bad feature is that it seems to have a limited use due to its small size..i see no reason why it won;t do the job for drilling out wheel holes though.....small enough to do a decent job.

Whatever therapy works for you - is a good therapy. Glad your touch/retail therapy was beneficial for you Betty.

Scott, I am so sorry to ear that you and your wife have both had to fight through Covid. I hope this means that you are both on your way to healing, if a bit slowly....

It is approximately 5 1/2" x 11". Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #3R MGT blades and Pegas #1 Spiral blades for...

Hugs to you, Betty, for your zany posts that always bring a smile, and to you, Scott, who are usually on the giving end of things. And to everyone else who makes this forum the special place that gives so much, and refuses to give up. 🤗
