    FYI
I just ordered one from Home Depot for 379.00, I always thought they were a $500 saw

Welcome to the forum from Tennessee. The DeWalt was my first scroll saw. In fact, I used it this morning.

The $500 total would typically include a stand and sometimes a light. Regardless, that's a pretty good deal. I had a Dewalt for many years and really liked it. I think you will be happy with it.

Wish I could have found the package for 500.
Question- is the metal stand stable?, it looks like it would be top heavy.
            Thanks for the support

The Dewalt stand is very stable. I have owned two and highly recommend them. The Dewalt light is very nice too but my old eyes, 70 +, prefers a magnifying lamp.

regarding magnifying lamp on Dewalt saw/stand, do you use a clamp on? and if so how where do you clamp to, I have a Harbor Freight magnifying lamp I use on my existing saw, I usually move saw to a bench or something where I clamp light to.

You have a great saw there Vans - very stable and vibration free. Just make sure you buy good quality blades as run of the mill commercial blades don't always give the best results. Denny on this forum can help you out there.

I have my mag light attached to a work bench next to the saw.

Yea, I guess my recollection of prices is a little out of date. Grizzly used to run sales on the saw & stand for around $500, but that was probably a lot longer ago than I thought.

Then again, I just looked and Amazon has the saw with light and stand for $494.

Yes, that is actually all it will take. It isn't designed to accept pin end blades. I don't know if any of the mid to upper echelon saws will accept pin end blades.
