  • Frozen Glue

While I was out of town for Christmas it got down to 7 degrees F here in Tennessee.

My work shop is in by barn and my glue froze. My question is:

Can it be thawed out (perhaps in the microwave for a few seconds) to get it back to flowing again?

    Cheers,
    -Bill

Do not microwave it. "Thaw" it on a counter in the house, just with ambient room temp. Shake and/or stir well to reconstitute. Got this from the Titebond website!

Thanks, I wasn’t to microwave it unless someone says to. I’ll bring it into the house tomorrow.

      Cheers,
      -Bill

This is my view. When in doubt toss it out. The amount of glue used on most projects amounts to pennies. Why risk ruining hours of priceless work because of the failure of 15 cents worth of glue. I also date when I first opened a glue bottle and toss it after 2 years.

Bill, going forward you can take an old refrigerator, or freezer, or dishwasher and install a 40 watt incandescent bulb in it. The bulb will generate enough heat to protect the contents from freezing.

          Scott-

Yea. you're right I just might have to buy new glue. The thawing out isn't goin' too good.

Good tip on the fridge, tho.

          Cheers,
          -Bill
