  • Found my solution for the bird houses.

One of the benifits of cleaning my shop was finding a very old can of General Finishes Oil Based Pre-stain Wood Conditioner, Natural.. I needed something to put a light finish on some compound bird houses. Very easy to brush on. Thanks to all those that offrered the suggestions before.. This light finish did not raise the grain. Yes I posted on Facebook that I spent 2 days cleaning my shop. it had been serveral years between cleaning. http://johnsworkshop.com/my-shop/

Great solution. Yes I am always surprised what I find when I clean up my shop. I have not tried pre stain conditioner but I like a clear oil based finished for my birdhouses and other compound work. I use Natural color Danish oil.

I like it doesn't change the color of the cedar. I don't finish my cedar birdhouses as people like the smell of cedar. Cleaning my shop. There's such a thing? SHHH don't want my shop to hear about it.

Since I have only replaced the blade holders and the rocker arms that the the blade holder attaches to and I do not recognize the parts, I suspect that they may be a part of the drive linkage inside the upper or lower arm. I know that this may not be much help.

The 1/4 is solid.. at least this time I will know that it is not all me and can blame part of it on the wood.. My go to wood is cherry and black walnut. a few weeks ago I cut a piece in 3/4 red oak and snapped a piece.....

I have had no issues with my EX-21 and it has lots of hours on it. Can you me a better idea what I am looking at?

I had a call from a friend and it appears a part broke on her EX-21 She will be getting the part from Ray and I will probably install it for her. Not having had my EX saw apart I am curious if any of you have replaced this part. I seem to remember it being a fairly common failure.
