wy do you use bol on both bb plywood and hardwood? also doyou finish the clock parts befor assembly?

I almost always apply the 50/50 BLO mix on hardwoods . If I have a real light colored wood, I will sometimes skip the BLO step so as to not darken the wood.
Same with baltic birch. Sometimes when making overlay parts for clocks etc. , I will skip the BLO and just spray laquer to keep the light colour. Then when making small fretwork shelves and things of that nature that will be selling at a reasonable price, I use BLO mix only... to seal the wood and leave it to the customer to finish it with a product of their choice.

I don't finish the clock parts before assembly. Some do , but I prefer the stronger glue bond of finishing my products after they are built.
