Those are so sweet, Cathy. I bet they were a lot of fun to make and paint, and putting the ducks on a nickel makes them look like they're splashing in a puddle.. Nobody would have guessed you were a novice.
I've got that pattern myself - it's something else I want to cut 'eventually'.

All this talk about compound cuts
With all this talk about compound cutting, I had to dig back into my files and find these pictures! This is one of the first things I made when I started scrolling. From Diana Thompson's book 3D Patterns for the Scroll Saw. I made this in 2003 and gave it away in a drawing at our Dance Club's 10th Anniversary party.

I could set 3 of the little ducklings on a nickel!! Oh what a trip down memory lane!! Thanks for stirring them up!!

by NC ScrollerEbony is a black wood though it is hard to find and very expensive. For round eyes l have taken pieces of dowel and rounded them on a sanding wheel. When I get the shape that I want I stain them with ebony stain.

All the things I do well, I learned on this forum. The bad stuff, well that was trying to take a short cut.
