  • Wildwood Catalog

I just got a new Wildwood catalog yesterday. I must say I was very disappointed. It used to be chock full of patterns. Now it is starting to look like a general woodworking supply catalog with some patterns. I guess it might be a fight for survival that they added the other products.
I used to really look forward to their catalog. I t also seems like they don't have as large a variety of artists as they had before?

Has anyone ordered from them lately? Have they sorted out the customer service issues?

I haven't received their latest catlogue (yet) but this is indeed dissapointing. I agree that their selection of patterns was second to none. I haven't ordered from them in quite some time due to all the reports of horrible service. I used to spend quite a bit of money with them on inserts as well as patterns. I wonder if they're feeling the pinch due to all the reported incidents?

I did not only get 1 but got 2 catalogs last Friday.
There are others who received two also. That is a lot of waste, I would think.

I received 3 catalogs yesterday. Yeah a waste of money. I too haven't ordered from them for a while as I heard the horror stories also. I really enjoyed seeing new clocks and didn't see any this time. I think that when I want to build the Rhinelander that I will order it from Dirk.

          Wildwood Catalogs

After about a year of trying to get a catalog, (they used to come automatically) I got 2 of them. This was several months ago. I haven't seen a new one yet and don't really expect to. Don't expect to order anything from them anyway as since they changed hands and moved from Richland, WI to Janesville they have been impossible to deal with.

I need a new project and was looking at the clocks but with what Barefoot was saying about the pattern..
are all their patterns like that, hard to interrupt?

I havn`t received one yet either but one person who did mentioned it says spring and summer. Does this mean they are going to have 2 a year spring @ summer/fall @ winter, do ya think.

No, all patterns arent hard to (interrupt)interpret. That falls on the pattern designer, not on the dealer. Some designers do a better job then others on accuracy, but its not a huge problem that Ive noticed on any clock I've cut. Dale

I got two catalogs as well. I agree that they look much more like a general woodworking place than they used to, although they still have a fairly reasonable number of patterns.

I've ordered from them fairly recently and received my order in a reasonable amount of time and it was actually all there this time, so they're better than they used to be. However, I'm shopping scroller, ltd., and the Wooden Teddy Bear more than I used to.

I must be missing something, I received the new catalog yesterday. The only difference I can see is that it is somewhat larger than the 2 before. Same tools, same patterns, didn't see anything new. Some of the prices have increased. I was surprised that I received one as I just go to the store rather than ordering from the catalog since they moved here.

                        Mick,

When you go to visit them have you ever discussed the bad press that they have been getting?

I might be wrong (it can happen) but I seem to remember the old catalogs being 99% patterns. I have been getting a bit more of the CRS syndrome lately

I noticed they really jumped their prices on their inserts as well. They used to have the best price by far but the cost has gone up quite a bit. I typically buy them in 25 - 100 lots but will have to search out a new source as their increase from my last purchase is over 25%.
                            Any suggestions for alternate sources?

Kevin, I get mine from Sloans. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if the price is good, but I like the quality of the inserts. They are "snap ins" I got some from Woodcraft that were much more expensive and had this little rubber ring on them that I did not care for
                              Hope this helps
