I hate to do this but...

what is compound cutting. My in-experience is showing again. Remember I'm a relative newbie... be kind.

in compund cutting you can take a square piece of material and cut a design on one side. Reassmble the wood, tape it together and turn it over, Now cut on the second side,
The result is a 3D image, sometimes they are shapes like chess pieces other times the images can be totally unrelated.
