    Modern Mechanix June 1935 had this interesting concept for a saw.
    It was powered by magnetism, the saw vibrated through the drive of a magnetic buzzer, It even gave the plans to wind your own coils.The page claims the saw can cut through 1/2 wood. Not sure what type of wood that would be.

    It's a Spiralux! I've got one of those, and it struggles with 1/4" plywood. Great for kiddies and people who are nervous that they might cut themselves on the unguarded blade, though.

      Looks like 'variable speed' back then would have meant a trip over seas to the world of 50 cycles. I believe that has since been corrected to reflect the normal 60 cycle we use?
