Jerry... From someone else who didn't know a time or two because of being naieve about copyrights and stuff... don't "beat yourself" up. Gill did a super job explaining the window of acception. Very well put I must add... thanks Gill. I guess it doesn't hurt to remind us all every now and then where we HAVE to draw the line.

Very eloquently and accurately stated Gill. My hats off to you for your professional approach to this sensitive topic. "Devalue your acquisition" ... never thought of it that way but how true indeed!!!
Thank you!

These things happen, Jerry. However, as Bob Duncan recently pointed out, there are some unscrupulous characters around who think nothing of copyright. We've got to protect ourselves against these people; not because we're stuffed shirts, but because pattern designers rely on sales of their patterns to give them the income which will enable them to produce more patterns.
We've got to think of the cost of patterns in the same way that we think of the cost of blades - an unavoidable expense that's part of the hobby. I hate to sound selfish about it, but if you spend money buying a pattern, why should you then devalue your acquisition by making it freely available to everyone else? Common patterns quickly become undesirable patterns.
If you're going to post a pattern here, please post only those patterns that you've designed yourself and which you're happy to place in the public domain, free for all.

Thanks for the clarification, Gill. I didn't realise it was a pattern.

It's always possible that a moderator has seen the attachment and considered its posting to be a breach of copyright, Ian. It is a commercial pattern, after all.
Before anyone asks, I haven't done anything and I don't know which moderator it was; but I've got access to the attachment and the decision to pull it strikes me as a pretty reasonable judgment call.

It's still saying attachment pending approval" so we can't see your picture, Green Frog.
I thought someone said the other day that it was only new members attachments that had to be appoved - or did I misread something?

Reply to Collapsible wood basketsThank you Karl, I to have seen these baskets at goodwill. I guess the reason they are so cheep is because they are easy to make. To cut your collapsible basket you just tilt your saw table to the left 4 to 5 degrees (for the basket only). For those of you that would like to find patterns check out this...Today, 04:04 PM

Reply to Collapsible wood basketsby KarlBNice work Eugene.
You know the sad part about our scroll saw work is where it ends up. I was just a Goodwill and saw a collapsible basket there with a price of only a few dollars.

I bought 11 patterns of collapsible wood baskets from the Cherry Tree back about 1995. They are not copies, they are origionals and some are large. I do not know the laws well enough to know if I can share copies of these plans with members of this grpup or not. What I like about these baskets is that...Today, 12:34 AM
