Exceptional work, Steve. You were my inspiration for trying a forest leaf design. I've only done 1 so far but I have a couple more patterns and will be doing plenty more in the future. The veining is a pain when you have to make sharp turns but they are kind of fun. I noticed you drill a hole in them for hanging. I attached a sawtooth hanger in the back with weldbond glue. It seems to hold very well and there are no holes showing. Other than that, I hope my future ones look as good as yours. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mike, I never dreamed of be inpiration to anyone. I did try to attach a sawtooth hanger on a couple of my first ones and used a brad nail that was to big. Lesson learned it split. I got discouraged and drilled the hole. After hanging them up though if you use a small nail you don't notice it. Steve

My thought was that the hole will be noticeable to prospective buyers.

The squirrel I cut didn't have the room, otherwise I would have drilled the holes and used screws. I use acrylic for all my backers, so with my portraits, I have to use screws. I drill thru the acrylic and barely penetrate the wood. Using a slow speed I can feel as soon as the bit gets thru the acrylic. I'm hoping most of these leaf patterns will work out to where I can use screws. But if not, I will use the glue.

And being an inspiration should give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I've cut quite a few of those leaves now too - though not the quantity Steve has .:-) - and like you Mike, I glue a saw tooth to the back. Seems to work fine..

One thing I did discover is that it isn't a great idea to reduce some of those patterns - I took the mallard duck one down to abot 76% to fit on the wood that I had - the veining became way too close together and I ended up beheading the duck .... Mind you it seems to have glued back on invisibly

There is some great stuff once again in that new gallery, Steve. I think we must have similar taste in patterns..:-)

Very nice Steve. It gives me more ideas of things I would like to try. My problem is that I have so many things I want to do that I tend to jump to a new project before I finish one that I am working on.

Thanks for the kind remarks from everyone. Mike it does give me some pride to learn that I could inspire someone to do something. Bill I have the same problem or addiction of jumping into the next project without finishing the one that I am working on first. Steve
