  • Wildwood Design Question

A while ago there was a thread on here about the quality of the customer service or lack there of lately since they moved/merged or whatever it was they did. I am curious, has anyone approached the company? Talked to someone in charge there? I have about had it and was wondering if anyone had done this yet or had contact info for someone in a position of authority.
    Thanks,

I made many phone calls to them, over almost 6 months, and all I got were evasive answers and no results until I recently got a new catalog and then I got a copy of the same catalog about 3 weeks later. It would seem that they still don't have business skills down pat and I don't plan to order from them at this point in time. If I hear of any positive feed back I may change my mind and try a test order.

I placed an order for the Chimes of Normandy clock pattern and have received it. It did take 9 days from the time I ordered it until they sent it by UPS. That seems like a long time for them to send it. I just placed another order with Wildwood yesterday and now I will see how long this one takes.

However I did have an order into Meisel Hardware for an item and it was back ordered and took almost two months to get it. Everytime I called them to see when it would ship they would say two weeks. That reminds me of the movie with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long called the "Money Pit" where they were having an old house remodeled and everytime they asked when the house would be done they always got the answer "two weeks".

        No kidding

They still have not shipped my order as they are waiting on the parts kit for the mill clock. I keep asking when they think they will ship and all I get is as soon as they can. So, no answer at all really. When I asked the first time the girl told me the backordered item was at the printer. I explained that they don't print parts. So I am thinking they are not really very together. Sad, they used to be so good at customer service.

They apparently have gotten no better. I made a large order and was quickly informed that my order had been processed, but that one small item (a small clock insert) was on back-order. So, I patiently waited. 3 weeks later, I sent an e-mail asking if they would kindly ship what they have and ship the insert later, or just substitute another insert that they do have. No reply. 2 full business days go by, I write again. This time, I got an answer: They'll ship what they have and send the rest of the order later. But this time I find out that 4 items are on back-order. Finally, after about 5 weeks I get a partial shipment. I placed the order late December. The "Order Date" on the invoice? Jan. 24 - the day they replied to my e-mail!

Same thing for me. I placed an order and was informed that one part was on back-order (apparently they don't actually have anything in stock?). The order didn't get to me for over a month.

I've shifted my purchasing to the Wooden Teddy Bear and Berry Basket. They don't have the selection that Wildwood has (or had), but at least they actually ship product.

They are fully aware of their internal problems, and also aware of all the bad publicity they have been getting. I also hope they can get their s#!^ together soon, or they will go under. Dale

                  Wildwood sticking it to me!

My experience is also poor with Wildwood designs! I attempted to purchase the Eiffel Tower Clock Pattern. At 21.95 for a pattern, I thought it to be a little steep, but I was really excited about doing the project. Well when I received my order confirmation, there was a $62.65 shipping charge added on, as I live in Canada. I called them and apparently the value is correct, as it is "computer generated", but I would only be charged the actual cost by UPS. Well I am looking at upwards of $85 US about $100 Canadian for this pattern. Note, their web site says $6.75 us for shipping a patten to Canada.

I guess what really got me, was the lack of an appolgy or any offer to try and accomodate me. Like sending it via the normal mail. I don't need the pattern in courier time!

It must be nice to have enough business, to not help me out. The funny part is, I don't mind spending money on patterns, and would no doubt be a regular customer.

                  FWIW,

                  Mr Hobbie

                  <Edit: remove name calling>

It`s to bad that they now only ship UPS. They used to ship USPS before which did not cost an arm and a leg. T here is no way I will order knowing that there will be a huge freight charge. As far as backorders on parts I would think that they don`t carry much inventory and order from their suppliers when they receive our orders.

Yes I am, but Janesville is a three hour drive for me. We'd have to move it closer or I'd have to move.
