  • Tug The Drafthorse

Last night as I was working on Hank the mule I had Tugs picture hanging up on the wall so I could start to get a feel for him and a game plan..
I know Toni and Sue likes things a little different so I hope they don't mind if I'm leaning toward a more traditional look..

Being that this is my first attempt at a segmentation project I'm tiring to stay within those guide lines..
since this will be cut out of one piece of wood I had my wife enlarge the pattern to fit on a 12 inch wide board.
Paint or stain? that will all depend on the wood and when I get to that piont.

    Off to the lumber yard...

    time to start cutting...

I found a really nice piece of 1/2 x 12 white Poplar with a very nice wood grain...I was hoping for a wood that would take to fuming, tanning and that would stain well but Poplar was the only thing I could find in that size..

      11 x 17

      I enlarged the pattern to a 11 x 17 piece of paper which will make Tug's accrual size 10 x 12..
The bigger size looks great and will make all those small and curvy pieces much more manageable to cut...

to bad I can't show you, you'll have to wait until Toni and Sue unveils him...

        ROFLMAO! Nice one Trout!

Yes, we will do the grand reveil when you've completed him. I got the giggles from that last post though.

Waiting with bated breath for the grand reveil or reviel? Is that a combination of unveiling and revealing ....?

But when is the cutie in the bath that I have here on my computer going to be revealed, Sue and Toni?

Oh sheesh Ian, you had me there a moment. I was puzzled.

I looked at Sue and said "cutie in the bathtub????" and we both were caught. See we have a number of "lifeforms" and nudes designed but well, they wouldn't be appropriate for this forum. I had to think for a moment what design you were talking about.

That "cutie in the bathtub" will be shown when you do the design I suppose.

                    116 pieces

It's all cut out and it only took me 3 1/2 hours total cutting time....
time for a couple shots of Jack to help ease the back...

Wow, you're fast.... we are glad to hear Tug is under 4 hours cutting time. We want to keep our designs under that mark if we can.

                      Having fun Trout?

                        I've got pictures too...

time to go clean up all those little pieces...

I'm having a great time, I just wish I knew what I was doing.
maybe I should put Neals book on my wish list....

116 pieces in 3 1/2 hours and to think it took me 2 days to cut out 20 pieces for Hank the mule..

Without the complete schematic it is hard to know what is correct.
That said, it is a multispeed blower that obviously has a controller board. That board varies the power to the motor. By doing what you did you bypassed that. You put power across the low and high windings. If any thing connecting...

If he connected to red and black and the motor spun wouldn't that indicate the motor is grounded? Without connecting the white the circuit isn't complete and the motor should not spin.

The reason for the smoke is incorrect wiring, posible melted insulation between motor windings and motor frame.

You mentioned connecting power to the red & and black wire. Did you do anything with White wire? Per the lable on the motor the black wire is high the Red is low. White common...
