I hope you try to do a few guides, it would be interesting to see how you do. When I've tried this approach using regular blades, the blades seem to drift. The wood has to be lined up perfect to get a decent result, but even then, the results are not great. I think when we cut, and the grain of the wood catches, or the blade starts to drift, we natually steer it back in to compensate. Guides tend to take out the human error, but unfortunately, they also take away your ability to adjust.

I would suggest using really soft wood and spirals. With spirals, you don't have to fight the tracking of the blades, but still, if you push hard, the blade moves all over the place defeating the purpose. If you have some ideas for jigs, give them a whirl, that is how new techniques come about. I've always loved the concepts of using jigs so this topic really interests me.

    Good luck

Greetings from central Indiana. Most of the good stuff I know about scrolling, I learned here. The rest was from fixing mistakes or doing stuff again because I didn't pay attention to what I read here.
So, ask your questions and post your photos.
