I do a lot of stack cutting is there a drill bit that cuts down on spillting the back out ? Iuse spare wood to put on the bottom and that helps a lot but still have sum slitting . i use a lot o veneer in the middles of my stack cuting was just wondering if there is a bit that is better than most ?

No real difference that Ive noticed. It does help to run your drillpress fast, and back out to clear chips partway through, and let it DRILL the hole, not punch it through. Go easy on the last little ways before it exits seems to help to, and the scrap under it helps the most. Dale

I was really surprised with the difference on the bottom of the wood when I just increased the speed of the drill press. I also use a scrap piece of wood under the wood when drilling.

I will try set my speed up i have been running at the slowest sped .

I am using a small Micro Mark drill press at about 4500 Rpm for the small #72 - 1/16 drill bits. I didn't like running my big drill at high speed all the time.
The exit holes are fairly clean but I still run the piece over my Sand flee to clean up the bottom before cutting.
