  • how to proceed

I have this friend who is starting up a parts business for water crafts.

I was wondering what to make him with his logo.

I was thinking up cutting out the black part and mounting it to a white board.

does that make sense, will it look ok?

I'd make it in an oval shape about 1-2 inches around the perimeter. Cut out the black from western red cedar & attach dark backer board behind it. There are some pretty fragile parts in the white waves under the skidoo that I might choose to make a little wider as I cut around them, even though once glued to the backer they will be pretty strong.

Jerry that was nice of you. That would have been my preference as well.

Don't know if this helps or not. Just cut out the black and use a backer of your choice. (I would go with white)

The way I do it is I carefully cut out the pieces.

Then spray them and put them all back in and glue the whole thing to a backer board. Like a puzzle of sorts that you cant take apart.

It will look 100 times better like this. Give it a try.

Start with a piece of red wood 1 1/2 inches thick. Paint the surface with a real hard acrlic white gloss. Then take the inverted logo to a sign shop and ask them to cut you a sand blast mask. The red wood should be cut as an oval not square the oval will give it an action appearance. Then attach the sand blast mask and sand blast out the every where that is open.
