I made 11 of these as Christmas gifts for my co-workers as I am retiring in February. I only scrolled the block with the names, the base I made from oak I picked up dumpster diving at our local cabinet shop, the name block is made of poplar.

Hey---No disgrace to diving for free expensive wood for projects. Saturday I picked up a whole trunk full of usable wood, 1',3/4, 1/2 and 1/8th laminated on one and both sides, some oak boards and a ton of 1/4 to 1/2 MDF. Most was in strips from 4 to 8 inches wide and lengths up to 36". I just can't see letting this stuff go to the dump.

My many years on this earth has taught me that the only 5 minutes job is writing a check to have someone else do the work. I also learned that Murphy was an optimist. You took on an ambitious project and stuff will happen. It will be great when you are done. The good news is you are retired so no...

Yes! - Today I got my second dose of the vaccine so I am now officially Pfizerized! This time around the local government did a much better job of organizing where and when to get the shots and opened up 5 smaller vaccination centers around the city instead of the previous one large one for the first...

The difference between 30° and 45° is amazing on my EX-21. The vibration at 45 is much greater. While having the flat table is great, I have to tilt the saw to the left to keep the upper clamp knob from beating my fingers to a pulp. I cut a lot of bowls-from-boards so I'm used to it. I probably wouldn't...

Great job on a difficult pattern. When I want to add color to BB I usually stain the BB before cutting.
