  • I am soo ready....

for this project to be done!
just a little more work on the front bumper, then to give it some depth
    and then glue together...

let's not forget that it still needs a steering wheel, maybe I will add the gas cap after all, hinges to the door, the light on the front finder..

4 weeks and I don't know how many hours, no need to reply because it isn't done yet..

That's coming together real nice. One of these days I'll work up the nerve to try my hand at intarsia.

this project is sucking up the hours...

          what's taking all the time....
the front fender is raised 3/8, the grill 1/8, the bumper will be raised 1/2 inch and then slop down to a 1/2, running boards are raised 3/8 and slopes down to 3/4, the bed and rear finder is raise 1/4...the gas cap is raised 3/8 and it goes through 3 different pieces and yes it's on the passenger side of the truck and it all has to be formed to fit together...

I think I'm at an intermediate level of scroll sawing and this pattern is definitely on the high side of intermediate....

The grain of the pieces of wood you picked really adds to the 3D effect. Very, very nice work.

            What's the actual size?

Beautiful piece of work, it is nice to see something other than animal intarsia. Is the grill one piece?

                the size is 14 x 22...

                73 peices...
the grill is one piece of wood, first you raise it 1/8 and then slope it down an 1/8 and then cut it into 13 peices, rounding down the top end of the cuts and then glued back together...the top peice of the grill is raise 1/8 and then slopes down the meet the trim that runs along the hood and cab...

that's at least 5 hours of work spread out over a couple days..since I only get to work on it for a couple hours a day...

                  Mighty fine work

                  Hi Trout,

                  It's coming along sweet.

So what if it's taking you more time than you expected?

I always feel a let-down when I finish a project because I put so much effort in it, detailing, working out the problems, finishing, spending a lot of time getting there, then... it's finished (Same thing as reading a really good book)

Sure it looks great, and it's pleasant to hear people go Ouhhhh, and Ahhhhhhh over the results and be amazed that you were able to do that and all.

But the real fun is in getting there, the anticipation of creating something special, the touching of the wood, the creativity, the problem solving, the pride of work well done: That is the time I'm in a different world, not bothered by life's little problems.

So, my advice is enjoy the ride, and remember that it's still less time spent than to make some intricate piece of furniture (can you imagine spending over 500 hours on a project? I couldn't do it, but some do).

                  Respectfully,
                  Marcel

                          Thank you Marsha....

actually Chris is my stepson...my wife had 2 and I had 1, we had some tough times but we ended up with 3 great kids that we are very proud of...

we were sweating the PD thing because Chris was in the top 5 out of 200 and they were only taking 10 to the academy...the academy started Monday and he still hadn't heard anything from them until today.
they're going to hire him now to work at the department and send him to the academy in September..

this works out too good, he just got married and they are expecting a baby in August...

More good news....My step daughters boyfriend, he just pass his test and he's now a journeyman electrician who will be making $45 an hour...Along with her Clorox job they'll be setting pretty good when they get married here soon...

my daughter, she's a manager at Target

I guess I should go work on my truck...

                            over on the fishing site...

I haven't been fishing in a while so I haven't had anything to report lately so I posted a picture of my truck, they think I should put a camper on it...and when am I going to do one of our boat...

like I haven't thought of that...our Jetcraft and Ford F250 with the camper, that would be cool out of wood...

I wonder what kind of picture makes the best Pattern? I'm watching the pattern threads....

don't mind me, it's my thread....

Trout, great job on the pick up and the accomplishment of your children.. Looks like you raised them right. Here is a litle something for your sone in the Police academy to look forward to.
                              POLICING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
A Highway Patrolman pulled a car over and told the driver that because he had been wearing his seat belt, he had just won $5,000 in the statewide safety competition.
"What are you going to do with the money?" asked the policeman.
"Well, I guess I'm going to get a driver's license," he answered. "Oh, don't listen to him," yelled a woman in the passenger seat. "He's a smart *** when he's drunk." This woke up the guy in the back seat who took one look at the cop and moaned,"
I knew we wouldn't get far in a stolen car." At that moment, there was a knock from the trunk and a voice said, in Spanish, "Are we over the border yet?"

                              Hope this dosen't offend anyone...

Without the complete schematic it is hard to know what is correct.
That said, it is a multispeed blower that obviously has a controller board. That board varies the power to the motor. By doing what you did you bypassed that. You put power across the low and high windings. If any thing connecting...

If he connected to red and black and the motor spun wouldn't that indicate the motor is grounded? Without connecting the white the circuit isn't complete and the motor should not spin.

The reason for the smoke is incorrect wiring, posible melted insulation between motor windings and motor frame.

You mentioned connecting power to the red & and black wire. Did you do anything with White wire? Per the lable on the motor the black wire is high the Red is low. White common...

I have this blower motor that's out of a used pellet stove the previous owner says was going bad. I suspect it's because it was almost completely clogged at the intake, but I wanted to test it out electrically to make sure. The motor housing says 120v, so not know hardly anything about electricity...
