why is it that when i use a photocopier to enlarge something by 61% gives me the correct size but when i use Coreldraw or Paint Shop Pro's resizing features it gives me something totally different?

    thanks,

That conundrum is right up there with, "Why do they call a pair of pants a "pair" of pants? There is only one. Perhaps we will learn the anwser to both when we get to the other side.

The photocopier enlarges through optics. There is no such a thing as a perfect lens so there sill be some distortions of the 61%.

The paint and draw programs enlarge mathematically, and as long as the program is written correctly, then the output would be closer to 61%

If you photocopy sheets that are larger than the copier and paste the sections together you will notice that the lines can be off slightly due to distortions in the lens. If you print multiple pages off on a printer and tape them together the lines will join better.

      Hope this helps.

I do know why they call pants a pair but I can leave that answer till we meet on the other side

          Graham,
With PSP you may need to check the page set up and see what the image size and margins are set to.
