  • Finished the box

I just finished the Gentleman's Box by John A. Nelson in the fall #20 issue. Here are a couple pictures. More in the Galleries.

I used BB Ply. I came out OK I'm still too new to trust myself with messing up a good piece of hard wood .

Click them to make them bigger.

      Bob-

Thanks. Yes I did read the article and it was quit helpful. Thank for running it. How would you make the pictures into thumbnails so when clicked on they will show bigger?

Very nice. For sure you are ready to cut hardwood.
What stain did you use for the box?

Great job on the box, wwalker47! Another in walnut with maple sides is calling you...

                        Thanks

Thanks for all the good comments. I had a good time doing this box of course I cut many more before I finished so it took a long time to finish the box. Thanks for the encouragement to try hardwood. I am planning on doing the Celtic Knotwork Trivet next and will do it out of hardwood.

B Smith- I used Minwax Rosewood stain and then sprayed it with triple-thick.

Carl- Can you look around and find the door that someone left open...It's mighty cold down here in Florida. Burrrrrrrrrr. Heck it must be down to 50 degrees F.

Thanks again for your kind words.

Well we just got a cool spell here too. The flowers are blooming right now but it is supposed to drop to -7C 19F by Friday. I won't be able to wear shorts. That will drive me crazy.

Well, yesterday, I shot my 18 in the morning. The grands came over and I got one of em to try it out. I had to demonstrate so I got another 12 or so in. Last night I finished up with 90 for the day. Going to challenge myself to one hundred arrows a day for one hundred days. Made an excel spreadsheet...

For me to write something like this with my woodburner, even with the fine ball tip pens, is just not possible for me. The variations in the wood grain really complicate things.
The laser doesn't care about grain....

A few weeks ago Elliott was looking around and saw a bow and arrows in the rafters in the basement. PopPop I didn’t know you had a bow and arrow. I don’t. It’s Mimi’s. Been a long time since I used it. Maybe I should get it out again.
