wood filler

I stack cut several ornaments ,I used a backer board but I still
had some tear out on the walnut and mahogany. I went to Lowes
and found some wood filler for these two woods mentioned. The
walnut color did ok,but the mahogany turned it more of a dark red
than I liked.My question is can you do something to lighten the wood filler
color? I am afraid if I try to dig out the filler I will only tear the wood more.
I wished now I had not put wood filler on and just seen what it would have
looked like after sanding and finishing.

Unfortunately I don't know of any way to lighten the filler.
I like to save the sawdust from projects it is super fine and can be made into filler with urethane,
If I am cutting two species of wood at once the blend of sawdusts masks the cracks beautifully.
Heck if I get enough sawdust maybe I will make MDF

Not sure what type you got. If you got the pencils it is easy to just go over them with whatever color you want. I like those alot. You can blend colors easily. If it is the small little jars. Try using some acetone to take the color out. I am not sure why you are worried about the back though. Seems trivial.
