  • Scroll Saw Baskets

Here is a basket I made from Popular. It is made from a 12" x 12" x 3/4" board. I rounded the top on the router table before cutting it out. It is 8" tall x 10" in diameter. Enjoy

    It's beautiful, James. Simply beautiful.

The repeated regularity of the cuts is testimony to the enormous skill you clearly have.

      Hi,

it looks fantastic. Let me show my ignorance here, what kind of tool do you use to round the upper border?

        Scroll Saw Baskets

Thank you Gill and Pedro. I enlarged this pattern by about 133%. I really am just a beginner scroll saw person. I don't do this full time, maybe about 3 or 4 hours a week every few weeks. I have a RBI 26 Hawk saw with the foot control and a round maginifying lighted glass. Pedro, I use a router table with a roundover bit. I tried to send you about 12 pictures of the Dome clock construction and a side view of the clock but the e-mail was refused due to a incorrect address. Give me a correct address and you can use the pictures in your site like you wanted.

              James,
              Really nice work!
I see that you made good use of the beauty of poplar - I think it is an under-appreciated wood.
What sort of finish did you use?

Thanks everyone, Sandy the finish is clear gloss polyurathane in a spray can. The same you can buy at Walt Mart or Home Depot.

Pedro's email address is: [email protected] He just told me that he will try to make some patterns for the design contest.

So many are selling them here it’s not worth us making them. However, we do very well with our dough boards. Nobody else makes them. We have an order for a dough board and matching pepper grinder. The walnut board I could make into a beautiful basket or two and sell for lots more than they are getting...

I use #7 on my younger kid puzzles. Easier for them to put together.

I did forget to mention he cut a finger on his left hand with the bandsaw. Just took skin off. Lucky again. Told him he was calling 911 next time.

Jim, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, on the left you’ll find some style options that change the font size and color. I’ve been using Defalt vB5 Style, and it seems to be about the best for my iPad, but I’m still experimenting with my iMac.
