I know this is a scroller forum but there are those out there that saw there own lumber and maybe using this tabletop Skil saw that is being recalled.
Just thought I would pass on a safety recall of a bench top saw. It is a SKIL table saw. It is made by Bosch It has the model number 3400 printed on the front side of the table base with the following date codes--28501-28831; 38101-39231; and48101-48811. The saw holds a 10" blade and has a metal top and red base. They were manufactored in Taiwan from July 2002 to Oct 2004. Price was about $149 to $199 They were sold at all Home centers and hardware stores. Something about the blade drive mechanism loosening and the motor shifting causing kickback. If anyone operates a tablesaw they know or should be aware of kickback. More injuries are caused with kickback than cutting off digits.
If you own this saw stop using imediatly and contact Bosch at 800-351-5788 or visit Skil web site at www.skil.com
Hope this has not had an ill effect on any of our readers. Back to making sawdust.
