  • Partners in Voctory - P51 Mustang

Our neighbor, Dave, has some health problems and had to give up his hobby of radio control aircraft. I made this as a gift for Dave. The pattern is found in CWWC June but I forgot the year. The designer is Jacob Fowler. I used 1/4" Cherry for the P51 Mustang, 3/4" Hard Maple for the clouds, and backed with 1/8" Baltic Birch plywood stained blue. The P51 was extremely fragile. I used FD UR #2/0 blades, but a piece still broke. I glued it back on. Comments welcome.

What a thoughtful gift. I like the layers and blue sky really makes this pop.

Yes, Ennobee I was asked to make a coin bank in the shape of a turtle for a little boys Christmas present. I've yet to come across anything in my books or magazines downstairs. If you could show me what you have I should be able to figure something out from there.
