I made this a while back and gave it to my mother-in-law for Christmas a couple years ago. I made the mistake of doing the detail on top and bottom of dark wood. I also used paduak to try and contrast the dark wood. Silly me, paduak gets really dark with time. Now you can hardly see all the detail I cut into it

Hey JimSawyer, yes she did cry when I gave it to her. Still I wish I hadn't used the dark woods for the detail. I had lots of cutting experience by the time I did this piece, but I wan't all that sharp on choosing woods...
