Finally after only 3 session of PT I can get back out to the shop and make some saw dust. Cut this out today using a piece of basswood (not impressed with it's character) and finished with EVO... wait.. that's what my wife uses in the kitchen. ELO! Nope... that's a band from the 70's. APO... heck no..haven't used one of those in a while! Yeah... it was BLO! Just because I wanted to see how it came out. Total size of basswood blank was
6" x 8" and 5/8" thick. I'm finally getting to finish MY set of handcuffs Trout really kicked my butt getting a set done. I'll finish them tomorrow after another PT session.

I have to agree with you about the "character" of those basswood slabs. The ones I cut were a little soft and I use water based finishes so the end grain got a little rough on me.
They sure look nice when they are done though.
Keep up the great work

Nice cut. I wouldn't mind knowing where to get some of those basswood blanks. What is BLO though..?
Dunno where Pop got his but I got a couple of those basswood slabs at Walmart recently. Michael's craft store sells them too, but they're way more expensive there!
Get em' at Ben Franklin Crafts here. Run from $4.00 to around $8.00 depending on size. The one I used for this project was $4.00

You can buy the blanks from AC Moore or Micheals. I assume that they are national chains. I bought a light table from ACMoore last weekend with a 50% coupon it saved me $40 . Both stores have 40 and 50 % coupons every week.
BLO is boiled lindseed oil (if it hasn't already been mentioned.

I have my Dewalt mounted onto an adjustable metal stand I made which after setting the table at different degrees of inclination I find 7 1/2" degrees to be fine for me. However before deciding on whatever angle you want to set the table you need to decide what seat height of stool or chair you...

I have one distinct difference and probable advantage over you in that here in Mexico building codes for interior work are pretty much non existent so I can do what I please...
