    I did this from a piece of cherry that the neighbor had given me. It was very well dried out and had wormy holes in it in which I had no idea about until I planed it down. I wanted to keep some of the bark on and decided I would burn some with my mini torch. I really like how this came out.
    I still have no clue to who the pattern designer is.

      Never saw the burning effect before -looks good ..........

            Improvisation is certainly acceptable, but some patterns are less forgiving than others. As someone else already said, learn to follow the lines as closely as possible.             The lines matter if you are making a multi-layer project if you need things to line up, otherwise it's artist's interpretation.
