Beginning Clocks

After viewing these beautiful massive Fretwork clocks, can someone suggest a design to start with?

I don't want to get in over my head, and end up abandoning it.

One problem with some of the patterns is that there is little instruction for assembly. If this is your first venture in that area, you might like to check out the Edgewater or some other clock by Dirk Boleman of the TheArtFactory.com. It uses 1/4 inch woods for most of it. That is one of the easiest thicknesses to get. I think the base has some 3/8 inch wood in it. It has good instructions for assembly. You can probably stackpile much of it. We prefer the look of solid woods--but we have seen beautifully made plywood clocks as well.
