  • Hawk in flight

This fretwork hawk was cut from Purpleheart wood and mounted on a board that was finished with hammered aluminum paint.

Sweeeeet work Dick, tell us more about that hammered aluminum paint.
Not to complain, but sure wish the photo was a tad larger.

I agree with you, Wood Dog...the photo is too small. After I saw that, I posted it in the Scroller Gallery because you can post larger photos there. Thanks for the nice comment. Dick

Dick, looks great but wish it was lighter or brighter can't see all the great detail I am sure is there in the hawk.
What size is it, it sure fills up that piece of wood. Thanks for sharing it.

Sorry, Jim, wish the photo was brighter. The wood finished a rich deep purple color. The overall size of the project is 14" x 16". Dick

As always Dick, a great piece of work. Does hammered aluminum paint mean that its textured spray paint? On another point, I found that by left clicking on a photo it increases the size of the photo.

Fantastic Job as always Dick, is it one of your patterns?

Thanks everyone for the great comments. Chuck D, I did not design this fine pattern. It was drawn by my friend Ted "Buzz" Buzzelli. He has given me permission to send it to anyone who would like a copy. Just send me your email address in a private message.

Very beautiful work Dick. The backer board really makes the purpleheart pop.

Rolf when you say taper from right to left, do you mean thinner near the body and thicker at the end of cloud as on the wing ?
And on each cloud touching the body ?
I had already sand some part , will show show soon!

                                Thanks

I did that with Creative Woodworks. But when Bruce's group had their monthly meetings and swaps, somehow or other the ones I didn't buy ended up here! I keep all my holiday ones separate. But I also look at other patterns and think how I can reuse it. But sometimes that is just too much for my brain...

Since I refuse to subscribe till they do something about the patterns in the pull out. They even made the DVD tough to print patterns.

What I do is look at the index of the book on scrollsawer.com and if see something I might want to cut I go to Walmart and check out the book. If I like...

I too miss Bob Duncan. I do not think anyone from FC has taken over that role at least on this forum. If they have I am not sure who. Like Betty, I owe a lot to FC and this forum. If it was not for them and this forum I would have probably turned my saw into a boat anchor years ago. Oh how I looked...
