  • Alphabet Clock

We really enjoy seeing what people can do, and this site is full of inspiration and information. Thank you to those who keep it going. I tried to do a pattern by Dan Wilckens, called the Alphabet clock, for a wedding gift. I made some changes to personalize it, and installed chimes movement.

It's a lovely, graceful design, and you did a wonderful job on it.

I'm sure it will be cherished by the lucky couple, and become a family heirloom in years to come.

Nice design; the personalization and the chimes make it much much better. The cutting is great. What a lucky couple to have such a nice and thoughtful 'handmade' wedding gift.

Rose, love the clock. I can imagine going goggle-eyed at all that fret work.

                        Very nicely done.

Very nicely done! I love fretwork clocks. I like your selection of contrasting woods. What did you use and what kind of finish did you apply?

I've always thought the Wilckens patterns to be quite distinctive. I've never done one but need to add one to my project wish list.

Excellent work. Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures.

I've always used the Roto-Zip, band saw, or other tools to make my projects. (wishing many times I had a good scroll saw). Well, I finally found an old DW-788 that the original owner said "it finally...

I use acrylic paint mixed with water to stain when I want vibrant colors. There was an article in one of the issues awhile back where a product called "Unicorn Spit" was suggested for the colors---and many people swear by it....
