  • Pineapple Welcome Box

    Hello Everyone
Evelyn started a new job about 2 weeks ago I wanted to make a box or dish of some kind but I didn't know what until a few days ago. The company she works for has a pineapple as it logo. I remembered that I had a book with a pineapple box. It's called "Custom Wooded Boxes For The Scroll Saw" by our own Diana Thompson. It's the Pineapple Welcome Box in the book. I used poplar for the box it has just the right amount of green, yellow and brown. I did a glue up of 2 pieces of 3/4" for the box sides and 1/4" lid and box bottom and glue up of 2 pieces of 1/4" for the lids underside, this part was a change I made I thought 1/2" would look better the 1/4" since the box was 1 3/4" tall. I used shellac for the finish. Evelyn is happy with the way it turned out. I think I'll be making some more of these once her coworkers see it. As always any and all comments are welcome

Came out really well. Does this mean you're moving to Hawaii?

Thanks Larry and Carole. No we are not moving to Hawaii we like it were we are and beside Larry would have to give up the top scroller position if I were to move there
Oh I forgot to say that I enlarged the pattern 20% it makes the box a bit more useable.

Thanks everyone for the complaments on the box and the comgrats for Evelyns new job. Her boss really liked the box and asked if I could make one for her. She wants her to be a little darker. I have the box sides gluing up how. I'll have another project for Evelyns office just about finished pictures and thread coming soon.

Some of the older books were that way too. It's unfortunate that the printers don't take into account what those pages are for! So sorry to hear of your disappointment. However, I will have to check out that book---I didn't even know there was a circular scroll saw designs book. Share some of...

Many patters in it I like and I'm sure I will make several BUT Fox Chapel's printing of this book absolutely SUCKS. Most of the patterns are printed so near into the binding that it is impossible to either scan to .PDF or use a copy machine. I will have to cut out each pattern separately or cut off...

Great Question.. I have all the past issues.. I doubt that I find one pattern a year that is worth the subscription cost. I have cut for the magazine and made a few buck that covers my costs,, But I owe that to Bob Duncan.. I think the new admins try but are not involved in this group like bob was.....
