  • Cutting some more birdhouses..epiphany.

While wrestling with some mini clamps and tape etc. I came up with a jig to hold my compound cut bird houses together. Works great.

Just 2, 1/4" bolts, 2 washers and 2 wing nuts to keep the pressure on. Works like a champ.

I have seen it before. I actually made a similar one a few months ago to cut some small puzzles out of spheres. Just passing it along as so many are doing the mini birdhouses these days-- I found it helpful.

And if you're lazy like me, the little Irwin clamps will work, too.

I have about a dozen of these all different sizes. One thing that I have started doing to them is adding 150 grit sand paper. you do not neet to put tape on the waste as the sand paper holds it all tight.

Just use some spray adhesive that you use to hold your patts on, add to the sand paper and the wood. I recommend adding some blue tape around the edges to keep everything clean. Spray the face that will hold the project, add your sand paper, trim to fit.

            Hope this helps.

That is a good idea using bolts and wing nuts. I think I will probably do that to mine. I have cut 60 of the mini bird houses. I sold 40 of them last Sunday at a street fair. I am cutting 40 more for a show I have in December. People really liked them!

Hey Mike. Yes, $10 each or two for $18. I sold 10 to one lady for $7.50 each.
so I don't hijack your thread, I'll post some pics in the business forum latter on.

Mike, I tryed the clamps and the jig, like the jig better. If you put the wing nuts one on the right and one on the left there easyer to open and close. For me anyway.Lance

Thanks for the clamp idea Mike, now I'm sorry I spent $15 apiece for some 6" Jorgensen clamps which do the same thing.

Great work and patience needed to pull off these smaller toys. You did a fantastic job! I really like them.

I'm curious to know what type of paints you use if you don't mind sharing the brand name.

Nice precise work Alex, as always from you.

I also find Celtic these designs fascinating due to their intricacy and geometrical symmetry but I doubt I have your patience to cut them!

                                Well done!

Bstark, take a look at out simple table setup that I have posted in Bettys posting. This fair is an annual fund raiser for our churches women's group. So I pay for two 8 ft tables (so I don't need to bring any) A couple of nice table clothes and I put shutters on each end and made special shelves...

RJ actually that room was an add on to our sanctuary it was meant to be a Gym and the shutters where to protect the windows. I has never seen a basketball since it was built in 2001. Our pre school uses it and we use it for many events plus we rent it out for private use....

Here is my new Celtic cross, it is 5th one, I dont know why but they are quite popular, I just like them because it consists geometric ornaments and has 3D effect
