  • Jewish letter openers

Here are two letter opener patterns I put together. They are to be added to my collection for the show I am doing in December. One is a Star of David and one is a Menorah. I combined patterns from two sources. The bases are from a set of patterns in SSWC and the tops are from an ornament set. The star and the menorah portions were originally religious ornaments designed by Marie S. Arnold and published on page 26 of CWWC Wood Ornaments issue in the winter of 2004.

I have not cut them yet but will today or tomorrow. I think they are lined up properly. Anyone else who wants to give them a shot, please feel free to do so. If you choose to cut them, the patterns should be enlarged to end up 8" long. I have been cutting my letter openers from 3/8" hardwood stock and occasionally from 1/4" stock.

Great patterns, I know just the person who will need a couple of these. I also just resawed some very pretty Myrtlewood that I think I'll cut them from. Myrtlewood grows in Israel and the Southern Oregon coast.

Cut these this afternoon. They will be given to a very good friend. I cut them out of Myrtlewood that I resawed this past weekend. Thanks for the patterns, I have been wondering what I would do for this family this year, now I know.

Great job designing the patterns and another great job cutting.
            You both did VERY well.
Pacifism is great, as long as everyone is participating.
